photographs of shooting day

photographs from our shooting day they depict people fiming and useing the Camera equipment, the shooting in progtess such as the stabbing in the shower in progress, talking through ideas in the location and gruesome picture of the actress with her costume and blood on.

this is a photo of our stabbing scene in the shower as you can see we have flicked blood over the actreces tshirt to get a good efect and make it more realistic.

In this picture you can see the blood we have pored in the bottom of the shower to get a shot of the blood running off the victim’s body down the slug hole. This shot we filmed as a close up because we wanted the impact of how much blood there is and how ht symbolises his life is slipping away down the plug hole

This is a photograph of what the actress looked like in costume and with the fake blood make up splattered over the white t-shirt, chest and face. We did this by having a member of our group crouching in the shower with the bottle of fake blood and a paint brush splattering it on to the actresses body and face to get the effect that as she stabs him his blood projects out and hits her.

Hear we have a photograph of the actress getting ready to stab the victim while he unknowingly showers she is standing on the other side of the wall appearing exited at the idea of him in there so close to her.
We shot from this angle as a wide shot to show the whole room and how close the proximity of the killer and the victim are without the victim being aware of him which we felt to be a frightening because he is venerable and naked and he has no idea what is coming for him.

acount of shooting day

We all met first thing in the morning on the day of the shoot, we didn’t begin shooting right away because we thought it was best to talk through our idea ones more to make sure we were all happy with the location, actors roles and organized shots. We decide to change some things around such as actress’s role and planed ways of shooting changing from shooting in POV the vast majority of the time to making the sequence more interesting by using a range of shots such as wide shots close ups and using steady cam with are all harder to achieve and less effective if the full sequence is filmed in POV.
We didn’t change our location although we did need a sink in our shots which had to appear in the same room as the showers, unfortunately in the shower room we chose there was no sink so we had to use the boys bathroom next door which had been decorated in the same style and make the sink seem as if it was in the shower room. We did this by having the actress walk around a corner shot in a wide shot and then cut to her washing her hands in the sink. We needed this shot to show that the killer is blood thirsty with no remorse.

Once we got to our location we sorted out where to place the camera to achieve the best possible range of shots that were possible in the small space we had to work in.
The first sequence we filmed was the shower bathroom one with the actor in the shower and the girl walking in to murder him. After that was finished we then moved on to the sink scene of the actress washing her hands. After our lunch break we filmed our corridor shots of the actress walking down dark hallways and up stairs.
Some of the shots we used in filming were long shots because at first we only see our killer from behind trying to hide her identity by showing her walking down long corridors from a distance to show we are leaving our audience guessing about her identity, if she is going to kill him or going to seduce him in the shower. , close ups
Close ups because once we had established to two characters together (the killer and victim) within the same room we wanted to make the connection in the difference in emotion between the two characters, showing the victim to be oblivious to her presence in the room whilst he is naked and vulnerable, in contrast to her being completely aware of the situation she is in which puts her in a position of control to the audience.
, hand heldHand held because in the opening sequence it was a perfect way to hide our killer identity and yet stay personal to her by it being a pov shot which makes the audience feel more involved with the scene and makes the sequence more exiteing it also tell the audience , extreme close ups, establishing and pov.

this is our actor josh Jackson who is the boy in the shower. We chose him due to his athletic build. He looks like an athlete
this is the actress (me) who is also a part of the media group. in our original idea was to shoot everything from pov and not see her face however on the day we decided to change our shots which ment that her whole body was in shot and her character was not a mystery. We decided to use her as she is blond which makes her look innocent. We wanted a cheerleader looking girl so the event she carried out would be unexpected.

Wednesday, 27 January 2010

I think that the props that we used were simple but effective we didn’t use many but the ones we did use we thought through and made sure we were all happy with the final decisions we used an American jock jacket hung on a peg in the bathroom to symbolize that the boy in the shower was a sporty popular boy in American terms a ‘jock’ it was quite a significant prop because it has a close up when the actress smells it and it is really the only prop that links directly with the boy in the shower.

We used the cardigan when the actress walked into the room, she then takes it of and lets it drop to the floor to give the allusion she is undressing to go and get in the shower with the actor. We used the vivid colour of red to show that her personality isn’t plain as the white vest top may suggest and it showed to the audience that she was an important character. It was also to add colour to the set because we were working with a lot of pale washed out colours.

we had the actress in a plain white vest top we decided to use the colour white because it represent innocence so the audience wont expect the brutal murder because they will think she is sweet and innocent. However the t shirt was also close fitting which challenges the innocent representation. The t-shirt is also a good colour to show up the blood when it is splattered on to her from the stabbing the red on white is more violent and vivid.

we slathered our actors chest in fake blood for maximum gore we used professional fake blood that they use in films. We had someone splattering blood onto the actress for maximum effect. we decided our killers weapon should be a kitchen knife which is a simple crude weapon. We have chosen this so show that she is only a teenaged girl who has taken a kitchen knife which would be very easy for her to acquire which tells the audience she is not an experienced killer. We wanted the weapon to be crude, brutal and as blood thirsty as possible not quick and clean suck as a gun.

storyboard

An extremely important part of filming is having the skills to make and follow storyboards. They help everyone on set order the shooting day and get things done faster. Also if shots are ordered and sorted before then the film will look better and more professional and you can have a clear idea of what the film is going to end up like. It also helps other aspects of the filming such as the organization of lighting as from the storyboards it can be planed, also editing is make easier because there is a clear idea of what can and cant be done.

storyboard

These are the story boards that we made for our main task they depict she shots that we are going to film for our main task. Story boards helped us a lot when going though the task of filming, they helped because when we were unsure about which shot to film next or how the shot was supposed to look. This help that the story boards give is the point of making them and the other point is that when drawing them you really think about the make up of your film and how the finished product is going to look. Our particular story boards depict the corridor shots, shower shots, changing room shots and the bathroom sink shots which we didn’t end up using it the end although we did still film it. On shoot day however we didn’t stick completely to our story boards however. We used it as a guide line and a help though some of our plan weren’t practical and were going to take to long to film.

Location
We decided to film in Hurtwood house building because we needed are location to look like a school and we also wanted to have as much time shooting as possible rather than wasting time on traveling to another location. We shot the stabbing scene in the boys shower room down steers in Hurtwood and in the boy’s bathroom for the mirror scene and washing hands. We changed our ideas for locations more than ones because the original idea was to shoot the sequence in an old elegant house with a bright, white bathroom with a bath shower and a shower curtain so the curtain could just be ripped back, however, since we did not have access to such a location, we discussed shooting in one of the boarding houses which had long narrow corridors and bathrooms that fit the description we wanted. We then decided that it would have been easier and time saving to shoot on school sight and we could make our film work around location difficulties. This is when we changed our location in general: we went from the idea of it being filmed in a house and having the feel of a house to a school and the atmosphere of a school location. For our corridor shots we used the school basement corridor which had pipes running along the wall which gives a scary effect, this is the location where the actress walks along the corridor to then go up the stairs to the bathroom. To make it seem as if the stairs led up to a main boarding house corridor, we shot her feet from an angle going up the stairs and then cut to her walking in the same pace and position as before but in a different corridor and keeping camera movement and angle the same.

changes to first thriller idea

• Main character(Killer): Sara Millfield
• Key Victims: -Marc,15 years old, the geek.
-Dave,16 years old, rugby boy
-Tim,16 years old, is helped by Lisa

She is very attractive, she disguises herself as a young high-school girl who is in reality 105 years old. She wants to keep young because she doesn’t feel that she has lived her life enough. She sucks the soul out of young boys. Her real name is Patricia Godfield. Lisa and Tim realise the disappearance of male friends and are attempted to study the killers mysterious past. Set mostly in school’s in America and in the victims house.
The initial idea of the whole story was representing an over-turn in stereotypical male killers where we finally see a man as the victim and the woman as the killer. The jock jacket at the beginning signifies that he is the typical, popular jock, therefore, showing that the place and setting of the whole film is in a high school, signifying that the target audience is adolescents.
The story behind her killing him in the opening sequence, is her mistreated high school years by boys like the boy in the shower.
After the opening sequence, the main idea is to continue the film by presenting lives of teen-agers in high school and continuing with many cases of similar murders that we saw in the opening sequence.
We cut to the school corridor where we see Mark the geek being bullied by Dave the hunk who locks him in a school locker and walks away. The girl rescues the geek and seduces him by kissing him and asking him on a date, he accepts and runs away with embarrassment. The cool guy sees this and tries to chat her up due to jealousy but she plays hard to get and walks away.
We next see Mark and the girl in a cinema and she seduces him by touching him on the knee and drags him into the bathroom knowing that he is too shy and weak to say no. She kills him by stabbing him violently while smoke which is supposed to be his soul exhales out of his mouth .We see the girl next day at school with Dave the hunk who is trying to get her to go out with him but his girlfriend Lisa interrupts and fights with the girl, therefore she leaves. We next see Dave call the girl and ask her out, we cut to her on the phone looking at herself in the mirror and she notices wrinkles on her hand and some grey hair (shows her problem), she piles on some make-up and accepts to go out with him requesting to meet at a club. We then cut to the club where there is a lot of chaos and drugged up people with hard-core techno playing. Dave walks through the crowd and sees her face through the crowd. She indicates to go upstairs. We cut to them walking into a dark, stingy room with a dim light. A close-up of them kissing and then we only see the dim light and we hear her stabbing him violently while he screams and then she leaves the room.
Next day she is in the corridor flirting with Tim, a new character who is the friend of Lisa, this is where Lisa starts to suspect this girl. The next day, Lisa walks up to the girl insulting her and asks her lots of questions about herself, she sees the wrinkles on her hand and the girl notices this and runs away. We cut to Lisa researching on the internet for this girl’s past but can’t find anything matching her fake name. She finds a book in the library which talks about this kind of power. The book says that she can only be destroyed by being called by her real name. She realises that she has to do research in the girl’s house to find her real name. She tells Tim the situation and asks him to help her, so he asks the girl on a date and takes her to his house. Lisa breaks into the girl’s house and finds all sorts of papers…. We see Lisa finally finding the real name and runs to Tim’s house. When she arrives, she is beaten up by the girl and Tim manages to get out of the bed and gets the papers and screams out her name. We see the girl shrivel up on the floor and loose all souls of her victims through exhaling the smoke.

We had to change our original thriller idea because it was predictable and we had problems with how to edit certain shots in to work with our film. The predicable parts were the jogger in the woods a preditor killing her pray and with all the vampire films around at the moment we felt it was to obvious to have a human being killed and prayed on by a human looking killer. we thought that our new ideasFor the thriller is more traditional but with a twist we got our inspiration from the film psycho but we changed the stereotype by making a innocent blond girl the blood thirsty killer as opposed to the big knife wheeling man.
I prefer the new idea and I think it is going to be easier to film than the previous one.
